HOLY CROSS
PRIMARY SCHOOL The Discovery Copse
Naturezones worked with the entire school
including reception and year 6 to create what was once an over grown,
neglected woodland area. Head
teacher Tim Eccles was the instigator of the project. Before Naturezones got
involved Mr Eccles had all the sycamore trees taken out. This produced a lot
of logs of various sizes and a huge pile of wood chip. The schools
groundsmen then did some important pre-work making clearances. A central
ring was created which makes an amazing outdoor educational centre.
Naturezones task was towork with the
children to replant the area with native species plants, make paths, and
give art workshops on the various aspect of the project such as making a
plan, looking at the lifecycle of a stag beetle, exploring the structure of
a woodland. Each class covered a different subject. |
